Neat! I truly had no idea of the science behind music in brain development. I had heard older people suggest to me to play Bach or Beethoven for my future kiddos from the time they were in the cradle until they preferred rock. Guess there’s some truth behind all those old wives tales. I will say from personal experience I definitely feel more cognitively aware when I have some background music going on. And I remember the first year after I quit band was hard on me. There was something just missing. I’ve entertained the idea of learning piano. Or maybe I should dust off the ol’ flute or, heaven forbid, recorder. I remember when I first learned to play the recorder I was so proud of myself, I went around the house squeaking out Mary Had a Little Lamb for probably what seemed like hours to my parents. I think there’s a special place in heaven for beginning musical instrument instructors for listening to all our squeaks. Maybe we should all pick up an instrument! Which one would you try?
