This looks promising to me. Making a plan particular for rehab research within the NIH including:
–strengthening links between the 27 NIH research institutes/centers. (Communication is never a bad thing.)
— defining rehab research. (That’s a good place to start.)
— make a plan, which is revisited every 5 years. (I’m always one for a plan and/or list!)
— an annual progress report. (Now that’s the hard part. I hate those kinds of assignments. You’ve had your head in the details for a whole year and then you’re forced to surface and look at the big picture. It usually makes for a good exercise for everyone, but it’s SO difficult to change your line of thinking from details to big picture.)
Even though all those things are rather basic, I suppose we have to start somewhere as a profession with more serious research.
