Happy (?) World Multiple Sclerosis Day! Is that something to be “happy” about? I’m not really sure. I guess it’s not the MS that we’re “happy”-ing about, but I am happy to raise awareness about MS.
Basically what happens in MS is that your own immune system attacks your nerves, making them (and therefore, you) function slowly. Other common symptoms are fatigue, pain, numbness/tingling, general weakness. There is no known cause or cure. Read the article above for some more good quick MS facts.
This is one of those invisible illnesses that really saps energy out of you, but you’ve got nothing to show on the outside for all your struggles. Then people start to wonder if you really are “sick.” Maybe people with MS doubt too if they are “sick.” Because this disease isn’t fatal. People with MS have the same life expectancy as “normal” people for the most part.
Do you have MS? Would you like to share something about your experience with the rest of us in the comments?
We’ll get back to some techie things tomorrow.
