What you’re looking at is an old right MCA stroke/brain attack site. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a picture of an old stroke site. According to the webpage up there, the stroke brains I’ve seen have been more acute strokes. In this one, I suppose the macrophages got busy cleaning up all the dead cells, so left this giant hole in the brain. I had never thought about the clean up work that happens after a stroke and what that would look like on a macro scale. Huh. Interesting.
