This is one of those life saving articles.
If you or anyone you love EVER experiences anything like this, go to the ER immediately. These may constitute a medical emergency of the nervous system. (And if they don’t, it’s something that needs to be addressed ASAP anyway.)
1. Going numb or weak
2. Sudden blurry vision or seeing double
3. Dizziness that won’t go away
4. Sudden severe headache or headache combined with a new symptom
5. Sudden loss of vision in 1 or both eyes
6. Sudden loss of hearing
7. Sudden loss of speech
8. Bolts of shock-like pain

I would draw your attention to a pattern I see. A good majority of those symptoms come on “suddenly.”
It always baffles me the patients I get to interview and the say something like, “I noticed I was getting weaker and weaker for no reason,” or “I was dizzy for a couple of days and then I went to the ER because I just couldn’t stand it anymore,” or “I had a terrible shooting pain going down my arm, but I thought I just pulled a muscle when I was doing [insert manual labor activity here],” or “I had had a really bad headache off and on for like a month…” You’re whole body is based on patterns and regularities. When “the norm” changes without warning, something inside has probably changed. The folks that say things like the above are usually permanently changed physically with new challenges. So much can be done these days if you just get to the ER within the first few hours of these type of symptoms that not only will save your life, but also your quality of life.
