Living near the ocean, mobility on the beach and in the water are of a concern for some of my patients. I had not heard of this Seatrac device, but it seems very useful! My local beach has 4 public beach accesses with these wooden ramps…
And 18 public beach accesses with the MobiMat. Basically the MobiMat makes you not sink into the sand, so it’s easier to walk on.
They also have 6 MobiChairs available by request at the local fire department. These are amphibious wheelchairs. As you can see, they have large plastic wheels that go over sand fairly easily, a mesh seat and float device arms. You can drive these things right into the water!
Because of all the above improvements, my local beach is considered the most accessible beach in Texas! I’m pretty proud of that! Now, if we could get one of those Seatracs… we’d be a disabled beach going mecca!
