I only purchase books that I know I’ll read again, and I plan on purchasing this book. I keep a few “comfort” reads that I go to when I’m lost as what to read next and just need something. I could see this falling into that category. I loved the 2 main characters. I could identify with both, although they lead 2 very different lives from my own. I did feel like the narrative fell slightly flat after Sarah’s father passed, but it picked up again quickly. I loved seeing the main characters’ relationship wax and wane just like a real relationship does over the course of a life time. And speaking of lifetime, I really enjoyed reading the Author’s Note at the end to discover the real Grimke sisters. Overall, great book that I highly recommend for any historical fiction lover.
