Listening is a really important skill for any medical professional. We need to be able to assign meaning to the utterances our patients make in order to assess and then treat their condition appropriately. So, I have challenged myself and now in turn challenge you take one (yes, just one) of the 5 practices to improve your listening and practice it for this week. I think I may go for the mixer one. Right now I can hear: my typing keys, the whirring of the computer fan, my cat purring and snuffling alternately, a train in the distance, the cat’s water fountain dish in the next room and my husband talking with a friend while playing a computer game at the back of the house. Which exercise are you going to do?
