Every American needs to read this, especially every white American. “But I don’t see colors….” If that was your response to my first statement, then you need to read this book. It outlines the history of the United States and how white people have systematically kept people of color from reaching for success in defense of their own. Many times this was done on purpose… and sometimes it was (and still is) done from ignorance. Read this book; educate yourself. That way you will not be an ignorant racist. “But I’m not a racist!” If you’re white, I hate to tell you, but from one white person to another, you probably are at least a little. And it’s probably not your fault. We were taught racist ideals right in our public school history classes. This book debunks all that, showcasing American history from a point of view left out of the textbooks– the person of color.
